Gingival Hyperplasia

Did you know certain breeds such as, Great Danes, Boxers and Collies are prone to a dental condition called Gingival Hyperplasia? Gingival Hyperplasia is a condition where the gingival tissues grow at an abnormal rate and can cover the crowns of the teeth. This can cause compromised periodontal health as bacteria and debris can become trapped underneath the overgrown tissue. Treatment for gingival hyperplasia may include surgery to remove the abnormal tissue.
